Cicada Hollow Farms

I am often asked why I picked the name Cicada Hollow. And yes, I will freely admit, it is all about the bug! I grew up loving what everyone else finds to be devastatingly
loud and annoying.

The songs of the Cicadas bring back wonderful childhood memories for me and the time I spent growing up at our family farm. I was always intrigued by the Cicadas, and would bring in scores of shed skins as well as capturing the live Cicadas at every opportunity. I still love to hear the Cicadas sing their songs and I reflect in the memory of times past.

Cicada Hollow Farms is located on 10 acres, just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. My parents own the long established 4 acre hobby farm, which is where I grew up. As a family we dreamed of one day purchasing the 6 acres which conjoined, and some 30 years later, a crotchety old man passed away and we were able to secure the land.

The combined 10 acre farms are where we keep and enjoy our horses. To some, it is just a couple of small hobby farms, but to us, it is an important part of our lives.
There is just something about being able to walk out to your own piece of land and breathe in the sweat, blood and tears you have put into the ground. It has been exciting for us to see the progress of Cicada Hollow, and to realize that dreams do indeed come true.
